Endoscopic Urological Surgeon in Pune
Endoscopic Urological Surgery is a minimally invasive procedure in which, urinary tract (kidney, urinary bladder and ureter) is operated with a tiny small camera also known as an endoscope along with specialized surgical instruments. This surgical procedure is performed on patients suffering from urinary tract problems like kidney stones, tumor within kidney, ureteral strictures, ureter blockage etc. The endoscopic urological surgery is performed on two basic approaches which are retrograde and percutaneous or antegrade. In retrograde procedure, surgery is conducted through the lower part of the urinary tract up i.e. from ureter to the kidney and in antegrade procedure, surgery is proceeded from the upper urinary tract to lower i.e. kidney to the ureter.
- Quick post-op recovery
- Minimal complications
- Reduced pain
Additional Information: The ‘retrograde’ technique of this surgery focuses on the lower section of urinary tract. Real time X-ray and uretoscope are utilized for successful execution of this surgical method. Usage of stent (a type of plastic fabricated tube) is inserted inside the ureter to create a bond between bladder and kidney depending on the severity of ureter. This process is effective in draining out kidney stones or any type of blockage via urination.
The ‘antegrade’ method encompasses removal of kidney stones via skin penetration process. This method is effective in treating tumor and ureteropelvic junction obstruction. As part of this surgery, a tube is left inside kidney to promote drainage of urine.
Several methodologies are followed to perform this surgery. These include:
Cytoscope: This surgical method is recommended for patients of urinary complications. It involves monitoring the inside of ureter, bladder and uretha by using cystoscope. This surgical procedure is effective in treating kidney stones.
Ureteroscopy: This surgical procedure encompasses thorough examination of the condition of upper urinary tract via using an endoscope. This procedure is perfect for diagnosis of kidney stones. One of its main advantages is that, the patient is allowed to go back home shortly after completion of check up.
Endoscopic surgery to detect cancer of bladder: This surgical method is performed to diagnose and treat bladder cancer like superficial transitional cell carcinoma. Cystoscope is used to identify the location of tumor and small shaped wire loop is used to eliminate the tumor.
Percutaneous endoscopy: This surgery is done for effective removal of at least two cm kidney stone. This process includes conduction of percutaneous nephrolithotomy or 1 cm opening of skin to penetrate the tube for removal of kidney stones.
Endoscopy for treating urinary stone: This surgical method encompasses procedures like ureteroscopy, cystoscopy and percutaneous. A specially developed telescopic camera and uretoscope are used to execute this surgery. The ureteroscope is penetrated inside the urethra and it gradually passes inside the bladder for thorough examination of ureter. A special type of laser fiber is utilized to make pieces of kidney stones so that these are discharged via urination.
